Economy of Guatemala
The economy of Guatemala is struggling. The country does not have a good export import ratio. This means that Guatemala is buying more things from other countries then they are are selling to other countries. Guatemala receives 7.3 billion dollars annually in import. The top three countries that buy from them the most are the United States of America, El Salvador, and Honduras. Guatemala spends 10.6 billion dollars in export every year. The top three countries that they buy from are the United States of America, Mexico and China.
Here is all about Guatemala's export business. First of all one important thing is that America buys a massive percent of Guatemalan products, 40.41%. But what are the items that they are selling? Sugar, textiles and clothing, furniture, chemicals, oil, rubber, and metal are some of Guatemala's main industries. The chief crops in Guatemala are sugarcane, corn, banana, and coffee. These are only the main things that Guatemala profits on but there are more things.
Of course we need to talk about how all these products leave the country and get to others. The main way of exportation is by boat. Major ports in Guatemala are Puerto Barrios and Santo Tomas de Castilla, these are on the Caribbean Sea, and Puerto Quetzal, which is on the Pacific Ocean.
